How do I get true single spacing when hitting return?

In office 2007, I would like to set Word to default to single spacing when I
hit return (Enter), and not have to hold down shift in order to achieve that.
How can I do that? I have set Word options/tools to single spacing, with no
luck.

There is a style called no spacing which does what you want. You can change
the normal template by clicking on the small downward arrow on the paragraph
grouping and setting the space before and after paragraph to 0. Then click on
default and then Yes . Apparently this is not recommended (although I have
done it) and you should use the no spacing style, but that depends on whether
you are into using styles.

Splendid. Worked perfectly. Thanks for the help.
