Hi

sorry there are only a couple of things that you can disable ( baselining,
creation of template etc).

My question would be, if you use Project Server, why would you want to give
users the abillity to read access to the Project via Project Professional.
Why dont you simply give them access via PWA and Project Details ? This will
give them more or less the same view and you dont need to worry about Project
Pro access. This is one of the most compelling reasons to go to Project
Server.
Thanks

Q

question

Hi Marc,

Thanks for your reply.

My requirement here is to get a read only copy of the project file, so if
there are similar kind of projects, they can do save as , make necessary
modifications and publish it as a different file.

Is there any alternate way of doing this.

Thanks.

Alternatively, create a category called Read only all projects - make sure
all current and future projects are part of this category.

Assign this category to a new group based on the Project Managers Group, but
remove the category permission to Save projects to the Project Server. Add
all users into this group.

This method is very expensive in terms of licencing, Marks idea regarding
PWA makes more sense for the majority of customers.

Q

question

That looks fine. But what extra permission should I give to the category, so
that the users should be able to see other users project file also(in MS
project). I think normally, though the users will be able to see all the
projects through project center in pwa, they will not be able to see it
through MS project.

Thanks.

Thanks a lot.
That solved my issue.
