How do I globally remove all index (XE) field codes?

Hi! -- Absurd as it seems, Word does not seem to provide any option for
globally removing all indexing (XE) field codes from a document! This seems
like a blatantly obvious thing to offer -- am I missing something?!? I am
trying to parcel a long document (my dissertation) into several smaller
papers to submit for publication. The long dissertation required an index
(hence the codes), but now it seems my only recourse for each short paper is
to manually delete the annoying XE codes one-by-one, and it is taking
forEVer! Please, please help! -- Jerry

Actually, it does. You must first display Hidden text so that you can see
the XE fields. Then use Find and Replace to search for "^19 XE" (without the
quotation marks, and note the space) and replace with nothing.
