Think of it this way: a motion path is not an entrance animation, it's a
move animation. So you have to enter your object before it can move. Motion
paths may seem like an entrance especially because they're often used to
move something onto a slide. But in those situations, the object is still
sitting there just off the edge of the slide -- but since you can't see it,
you may not realize that.
So, you need to add an entrance animation and set it to begin with the
motion path animation. Appear is usually a good entrance to use in these
cases.
