How do I import PDF files into Powerpoint?

I use Powerpoint 2002 and I need to import a PDF file into a Powerpoint presentation. But it doesn't seem to what to co-operate with me. I have tried just to copy and paste, but all I end up with on my presentation is a lovely PDF Acrobat symbol on my slide in powerpoint. Can anyone there help me. I only have acccess to Acrobat reader, not writer.
