How do I insert a document and keep numbering within the document?

I have a document with numbered questions in it. When I insert another
document with numbered questions, the numbering continues from the first
document. I want each inserted document to keep it's numbering starting with
1. help please.

Try right-clicking on the first number in the list of items that is
incorrectly numbered, then select "restart numbering."
