How do I insert a graphic (eps) into a Word file? What is best for

Our company logo was drawn in Illustrator, so it is an eps file. Word lets
me insert it, but then it doesn't show up. I read some earlier posts about
this, but the solution didn't work (unchecking the "Picture Placeholders" box
in Options). The other thing is, while I will be printing documents to a
post script printer, other people won't , which means that maybe an eps file
is a bad idea anyway. The guy who drew the logo sent me a GIF to use, but it
prints out with jagged edges. Can someone tell me the best file format and
method of insertion for a logo? It's a solid black logo, nothing
complicated. Thanks!

If the creator did not add a placeable header to the EPS file, then it will
not display in some versions of Word and will not print on most PostScript
printers, I believe. Recent versions of Word/Windows, as I understand it,
have native PS support, but it doesn't sound as if you do. A TIFF will look
ugly in Word but will print well provided it hasn't been resized (and you
have to be careful with TIFFs, as there are numerous formats, and Word
doesn't deal well with all of them). For vector formats I've always like
WMF, but I understand that's now considered old hat. Others here will be
better able to advise you about that.
