How do I insert a photo and get those little circles around it?

The other day I got help on inserting photos so I could get that green circle
which allow me to rotate the photo. (go to format and select anything other
than in line with text). But, what do I do if that doesn't show up as an
option. I have inserted some photos and the windows are greyed out, or won't
let me make that selection.

To rotate any object, you must change its wrapping from In Line With Text to
any other style.

Here's my problem, Suzanne . . . On most of the photos I can follow your
instructions and make that change. But on some of them, when I go to the
"wrap" site, the windows are greyed out and I can't make that selection.
what can I do when I run into this problem and can't make the change there?

When you select a picture, you should get the Picture toolbar. The Text
Wrapping button is the one with the dog icon.

I have the same problem. I Insert a picture into a document and change the
Text wrapping to Square. Then After going back to the picture from a text
box I cannot access the Formatt picture menu and I cannot resize or anything.
The only thing it allows me to do is move. I use XP pro (sp2) and Word 2003

Dear "ME"

The information given by Susan Barnhill is correct and will work if there
are no other complications. Since she is an exerienced use of Microsoft, she
probably does not make any errors with her photos and thus her instructions
will always work. However, since I am not that well versed on the dos and
don'ts, I have discovered there are some things I do which prevent Susan's
instructions from working everytime I insert a photo. For example, sometimes
I copy a photo to the page where I want it, then try to click on the icon to
change the parameters, but I can't get the green circle. What I will do in
that case is copy the photo to a blank page then change the parameters to
either tight or square (you know on the doggie icon) then copy that photo to
the page where I need it to be and I will bet the gree circle. I hope this
is helpful to you.
