How do I insert an arrow without drawing box popping up?

Every time I need to insert an arrow a drawing creation box pops up. Am
trying to insert an arrow from text to a picture.

Tools | Options | General: Clear the check box for "Automatically create
drawing canvas when inserting AutoShapes."
