How do I insert text into my diagram, without additional text boxe

You don't really give us a lot of information... You should
not try to ask the complete question in the subject line,
but use the box provided to explain more fully what you
have (including the version of Word) and what the problem
is.

I'm not certain to what you're referring with the term
"diagram", but in Word, anything that's not text is usually
in the Drawing layer. And in order to add text to the
Drawing layer, you need a text box or a call-out.
