I am trying to reinstall word 97 from office 97 small business edition onto
my windows xp sp2 home computer. every time I click to install word I get a
popup box that reads. " 16 bit windows subsystem "
C:windows\system32\autoexec.nt. the system file is not suitable for running
ms-dos and microsoft windows applications. choose close to terminate the
application. Is there any way to fix this.

See http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=324767 "Error message when
you install or start an MS-DOS or 16-bit Windows-based program".
If you have installed Service Pack 2 for Windows XP, then you
may encounter other problems during the Office 97 installation...
if it happens and you can't figure out what to do, write back. :)
