How do I integrate Power Point 2003 with Office Basic 2003?

I have Office Basic 2003. I want to add Power Point. I selected Microsoft
Office Power Point 2003 based upon the salesperson's recommendation at
Staples. It will not work as an upgrade load. Says it cannot find any
Microsoft Office versions. Since they will not take back any opened software
what do I do?

Do you have an earlier full version of Microsoft Office or PowerPoint? If you do
then you insert the CD from that package when the installation is looking for
qualified material. If not, and you can't take it back to the store where the
salesperson recommended the package. You might try buying an earlier full
version of PowerPoint on eBay as your qualifier.

If you are willing to pay an additional $120, then take it back to the store and
be firm with the salesperson, or the manager if necessary, and tell them that
you have learned that they gave you the wrong advice and that a PowerPoint
upgrade will not work with Office Basic. Tell them that you need the full
version of PowerPoint. They should be interested in exchanging a $109 product
for a $229 product.

If you want to save some money, follow Michael's advice and get your hands on a
full copy of a previous version of PowerPoint or Office. Look on eBay, for
example. You need to get a version of Office that included PowerPoint. The
Small Business Edition is to be avoided, because the upgrade you have won't work
with it. Be very careful about what you buy. Otherwise you may end up with a
book or a version of Office that doesn't include PowerPoint, or who knows what.
I see people even trying to sell the Word Viewer, which is a free download from
Microsoft.

if you purchased the software recently, do not recall the required time
frame. call MSFT, they will take back the software, or may be able to
otherwise help you.

Yes, that's why when I was talking about SBE, it was in the context of previous
versions. Maybe that wasn't as clear as it should have been.

Regarding avoiding Small Business Edition, that used to be true with
previous versions of PPT.

PPT 2003, though, does consider even Small Business Editions as upgrade
qualifiers. http://www.microsoft.com/office/powerpoint/howtobuy/default.mspx
