How do I keep my audio file synced with ppt?

I keep getting a delay in the start of my audio file in my ppt. I did
rehearse the timings and had it synced well. But when I played it back a few
times, the sound files is late. What happened? Did I do something wrong or
is this just part of the software. I am planning to but this on a web page
is there something different I need to do? (Different presentation type?)

Any help would be very appreciated.
