how do i link contacts to address book

I was able to copy my contacts list from my old computer to the new but I
can't link them to my address book so when I want to send a email I have to
look it up in contacts then cut and paste the address to send e-mail

You'll be better off asking this in a newsgroup related to whatever e-mail
client you were using.
