how do i make a down arrow in MS word 2003. i know i can make a side arrow
by either ==> or --> how do i make a down arrow.

Those arrow shortcuts are simply pre-defined autotext entries. Explore the
Insert > Symbol dialog for other arrows, and create your own shortcuts if
you want.
