How do I make parallel (non-newspaper-type) columns?

I don't seem to find the option for formatting parallel columns?
I would prefer not to use a Table. Thanks. LindaK

Parallel columns is a WordPerfect feature. The equivalent in
Word is to create a two-column table, and put each parallel
"pair" in a separate row in the table. You can you turn off
border lines (Format->BordersAndShading->Borders) to make the
table invisible. Why do you prefer not to use a table?
