how do i move incoming mail to a new folder without copying it?

i have a rule that is suposed to move incoming mail from a person to a
different folder than the inbox. however, outlook copies the mail into the
new folder and does not remove the orriginal in the inbox folder. I have
tripple checked that the rule says move and not copy, yet it still copies the
mail instead of moving it.
