how do I open a document in a differnet version?

I am having trouble opening a document done in an older version of publisher
is ther a way to remedy this without buying the older version?

I'd suggest asking this in a newsgroup related to Publisher, such as
microsoft.public.publisher.

This newsgroup is for questions about Access, the database product that's
part of Office Professional.

You may want to ask this question in a Publisher newsgroup; this group
is for a different program, Microsoft Access.
