how do i open a ZIP file?

i got an attachment in an email, i tried to open it but was unable to, when i
saved the attachment in microsoft word, to try and open it a different way a
display box came up and everything was in symbols. the attachment i was
trying to open is a picture. when i clicked on its properities it said it was
a ZIP file. i dont know how to open it.

You need to have an unzipping program. You can download a free trial of
WinZip at www.winzip.com.

In addition to the WInzip trial, there are many good freeware zip tools.
Filzip, UltimateZip, and 7zip all come to mind. Google will help you find
them.
