how do I open excel files from earlier versions in excel 98?

I am unable to open older excel files that were created
in 1992 excel in my excel 98. Can't figure out how to
make it work. Help!!

Hi

Excel 98 can go back to very early versions of Excel. You may have to
install the additional converters from the Value Pack. If you do install
them from the value pack you may have to re-install any updates for Excel,
as the Value-Pack on the CD does not contain updated ingredients.
