How do I open Office 2007 files in Office 2003 programs?

I specially refer to Word and Excel documents. Unfortunately, I went back to
Office 2003, as I didn't get used to Office 2007 and I didn't know they were
not totally compatible (going backwards). So, now I am trapped with a few
documents and spreadsheets that I cannot open. Your help will be appreciated.
