how do I open two documents on screen at once

I want to be able to ork on two documents similtaneously, with them both up
on the screen at the same time. For instance one might be a research paper
and the other an article I am working on. I need to be able to type on both,
cut and paste, etc

Window the individual documents. It's the button in between the
"underscore" and the "X" buttons. Upper right, second set down.

What's wrong with opening two instances of Word, apart from
messing up window size? Bob's method might be better but I'd
like to know the formal name of the button since I have
customized my tool bars so much that the directions for finding
it don't apply :)

It toggles between "Restore down" and "Maximize" and it's the second set
of the "buttons"

Sorry to be so late in responding. I had not realized that the
buttons you were referring to are on the *title* bar. I can see
now that when I place the mouse on that button "restore down" or
"maximize" appears.

Thanks!
