how do i open up a backup on FD from 98 onto XP ?

Took a backup of my documents using backup facility on Windows 98. On
restoring onto Windows XP comes up with error message 'unrecognised data &
cannot be used'. Does anyone know how I can restore the backup ?

Not an office issue. The backup files created by Windows 98 are NOT
compatible with XP's restore. Use Win 98 to restore files, copy file to
CD, read files into XP, unset read-only on files.

Normally I wouldn't offer but we have a cat we affectionately call Puddie so
I feel inclined to help.

I have a "craptop" with Win98, but not SE. If you would like, you may send
those files to me, I'll try to restore the files for your use. I can't
guarantee it will work but I'm willing to try if you'd like.
