How do I open winmail.dat attachments

Yo don't, just ask the person to resend it using Plain Text or HTML. There
is program from Fentun that will read the .dat file but it only contains
formatting.

Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact. Due to
the (insert latest virus name here) virus, all mail sent to my personal
account will be deleted without reading.

After furious head scratching, widewilly asked:

Configure Outlook to use Word to read Rich-Text Formatted e-mails
(Tools -> Options -> Mail Format.

RTF should only be used for sending e-mails between recipients within
the same Outlook-Exchange organization, not when sending e-mails through
the Internet and when it is unknown what e-mail client the recipient
uses. The sender should be using plain-text or HTML.
