How do i password protect a visio file?

If you go to View > Drawing Explorer and right-click on the top item in the
tree, you can go to Protect Document.

However, please note that this is not a secure feature (having been created
many years ago). It is quite easy to discover or bypass the password
protection on a document.

I guess I am being thick, but I have tried this in Visio 2003 and there does
not seem to be a option to enter a password as there is in Visio 2000.
Is this correct?

Thanks

Hmm. It might have been removed outright. My understanding was that it was
still there but no longer useful. It looks like the feature was removed in
Visio 2003. Sorry for not giving more accurate information earlier.

The key point is that Visio does not support Information Rights Management
(the current document protection technology) as other Office applications
do. There may be some third party suppliers that offer protection solutions
for Visio documents.
