How do I position a caption to left or right of photo and anchor s

In Word:
I wish to move photo captions to left or right of photo (not above or below)
and reverse position to right or left if pagination changes; I wish to add
text as necessary to photo caption and change width or length of caption; I
wish to anchor caption to photo; I wish to move photo AND caption together up
and down text as required; I wish to delete BORDER ONLY round caption if
necessary

Aside from the requirement to change from left to right, I'd suggest a
two-cell, one-row table, with borders applied selectively. Given the
swapping requirement, however, a frame anchored to the photo might work
