How do I prevent (R) from changing to ®

I use abbreviated (R) and (L) in my notes. But every time I type (R) it
switches automatically to ®. How do I disable this feature?

Tools/Autocorrect Options/Autocorrect tab - delete that entry from the list
of corrections
