How do i produce a professional looking magazine?

I am creating an article for a golf magazine with pictures and text, how can
i make it look professional enough for selling to the public?

1) Throw out your copy of Publisher.

Not necessarily. It could be done with Publisher. Heck, it would probably
even be done with Paint, if you have the skills. And you can produce pure
crap with big dollar programs if you haven't the design skills. (Just look
at your local bookseller for proof of that.)

printer.

That's a whole 'nuther critter. You could have an acceptable .pdf file of a
crappy design. And crappy design is in the eye of the beholder...like what
passes for fashion.

If you read the original post, it was about an article, not the entire magazine.
A simple article with a couple of well-placed images is not design intensive.

If you are preparing an article for a magazine, why are you worried
about selling it to the public? That's the mag's job. If you are asking
about how to send an article and pictures to a magazine so it (they)
will be published, ask the editor. More than likely, they will want the
text in a (duh) text document, such as Word or Notepad and the image as
a 300-350 dpi jpg, eps or tif file.
