How do I protect custom settings when moving from Office 2K to 2K3

I have a user that currently has Office 2000, and needs Office 2003
installed, but she is afraid she'll lose her custom settings & forms when I
do it. Is there a way to prevent the loss of her custom settings/forms?
Should I not uninstall Office 2000, but instead upgrade it to 2003?

Thanks!

When you install Office 2003 Upgrade compatible settings and forms are
retained in Office 2003. During installation you can choose to uninstall
prior versions of the applications included in your Office 2003 edition.

And since those charts are important to her, she's carefully backed them
all up, right?
