How do I protect photos from being copied?

Q

Does anyone know how I can protect the photos I put on my web site from being copied by others?

Searching many previous posts will tell you that you can't! You can slow
people down but once they have seen the photos in their browser they are
stored in their internet temp files.

You can't. When a page loads all of the information (images, text, etc) are
all saved onto the client computer first and then your browser puts the page
together. All an individual needs to do is to go to their Temporay Internet
Files to find the image.

What can you do: degrade the value of the picture by using a watermark on
it, either by using an image editor to superimpose a copyright on the image
or you can also use a digital watermark which would embed into the picture,
and then if you see the picture on another site you could let them know you
know they stole the picture. Another option would be to use low quality
images.

Reality: nothing will prevent it, you can only discourage it

Don't place them on the web.

I usually put a big black X right across the front of the pix ;-)
