how do I put a name into my contact section that is already into my distribution list

I know that when I create a distribution list, I can add new contacts to it
and I have the option to select a little square that says "add to contacts"
but sometimes I dont select this so I do not have the name separate from my
distribution list as well. The problem is that sometimes I realize that I
need this name to be into my contacts section separate from my distribution
list as well but dont know how to do it since I can not find anymore the
option to do it.
