HOW DO I PUT MUSIC TO MY SLIDESHOW

I tried to put music into my powerpoint presentation, but powerpoint would
not accept the file because it was not a .wav file. I am trying to place an
mp3 file on it. What can I do? My powerpoint is windows 2000.

If you were trying to add it to an animation or a transition then, yes, it must
be a WAV. Have you tried Insert > Movies and Sounds > Sound from File?
