Trying to reactivate via internet brings a message that my copy is
already installed on another PC. Yes, it was, but that one died and
I'm now reinstalling all the apps on a new one. How do I get round
this brick wall? I've paid for the damn thing, and now I apparently
can't use it. Color me unimpressed.

If it is an OEM licence then it is tied forever to the dead system and
*CANNOT* be used on any other, regardless of what happened to the first.

What did you add to this that an MVP and a COMPETENT computer user didn't
already cover. Your trollish answer?
