How do I recover a corrupted word file?

We have a completed research paper into which a x-ray file was inserted,
which apparently corrupted the word file. Our help desk couldn't help. All
we get is gobbledygook. We have tried various recovery techniques and
programs. We have tried to go to an earlier version. Nothing seems to
work. HELP!

Have you tried Open and Repair?

We have tried everything from recovery software, Open and repair, everthing
anyone could think of. Nothing has worked.

Try opening it in WordPad. It may take a half hour to open, but I've found
it usually does a better job of recovering than Word does.

You can try Active@ undelete. This data recovery tool saved me many
times before so I think you will also find it rather useful. Give it a
try, I suppose you won't regret it.
