How do I recover a lost address book?

I keep my pst file on an external drive so that I can use it with my desktop
and laptop. I reinstalled Office 2003 on my desktop and I can't get it
pointed to my external drive to store data. I also cannot access my address
book from my laptop. I need help with both problems.
