how do I recover a reply that closed while working on it?

I was working on a reply to a letter and it was a long one I had to look up a
fact someplace else so i went to minimise the window and slipped to the X
when I hit the button and boom it was gone. How do I recover this reply so I
don't have to retype it all? is there a way?

I'm new to outlook, My old mail would ask if i wanted to save it as a draft
before closing. it seems Outlook doesn't darn twitch.

Outlook saves it in the Drafts folder as well. There is no way to
permanently delete anything without an extra end-user confirmation.
