How do I recover data of virus corrupted office files

A

Abra

Can anyone be kind enough to help me see the actual contents of my virus
corrupted Office files?

Restore the files from a recent backup made before your computer
became infected with the virus.

That rather depends on the virus and the extent of the corruption. If there
is any data there you might see it with a hex editor, or maybe in Notepad,
or by opening in Word with type "Recover Text from any File". Chances are,
though, that there isn't any data to see.

The unknown virus corrupted not only the Office files but all other text
files as well i.e. NotePad and WordPad. I do see the contents but these are
garbled and mutilated.

Sorry, but that is the destructive intent of most viruses....
to destroy your system. Always use a good antivirus
program and make period backups.

Some suggestions:

FREE avast! Virus Cleaner

Free avast! 4 Home Edition

I would recommend that you give serious consideration
to investing in a good external hard drive designed for backup purposes.

That's called Murphy's Law. And that is exactly why you need to make sure
that you back up all of your important files before disaster hits.

I totally agree with JoAnn. I have made a habbit of putting everything
(i.e. my own documents) on a CD once a night by dragging and Dropping.
Total cost to me not more than £10 (GBP)!
