How do I reduce the size of a WAV file?

I did it once before but I forgot how to do it. I do not mind to reduce the
quality of the sound in order to make the file smaller.
I used something in microsoft.
Please give me step by step instructions.

If you want to use Windows go to start - all programs - accessories -
entertainment - sound recorder. You can open your file there and reduce the
quality.
Also consider using Audacity, it's free:

If you can convert to an mp3 you will get a much smaller file. See here for

Do you have to reduce the file size of a wav file or the duration of a wav
file?

1) To reduce the file size of a wav file:

Open the wav file of any audio editing software (Now Iam using FlexiMusic
Wave Editor) then click on "Save As Mp3" command in File menu.

2) To reduce the duration of the wav file:

Open the wav file in Fleximusic wave editor. Use the "Change Size" command
in File menu to change the duration of the wave file (to make the wav file
smaller) by reducing it on the tail end. You can either enter the duration
or the total number of samples. When you enter one value the other value
will be adjusted automatically.
