How do I reinstall Upgrade Office XP when old version has gone?

S

Sicomp

My computer recently crashed and have reinstalled the programs I had
successfully but because my computer now does not have the original version
of Office '97, my copy of Upgrade Office XP won't reinstall. Any suggestions?

You will not be able to install an upgrade version of Office XP unless
you find your old Office 97 CD required for verification.

Ignore the previous answer because it is rubbish.

You can install an upgrade of Office XP if you have CDs of old Microsoft
works upto version 7.0. you can buy old versions from Ebay or Amazon and
they are pretty cheap.

I just upgraded of Office XP on a test machine before I posted the only
thing I have on this test machine is Win XP Professional with SP3, and
Microsoft Excel 6. The setup is cloned so that after every test it can
reinstated to its original state for another test.

So I know what I am taking about.

Does this help.

Excel was NEVER part of Works as Works has it's own spreadsheet and is not a
qualifier. So obviously you don't know what you are preaching. Are you
absolutely sure that when you "upgraded" that all of the Office products
installed and not just the latest Excel program? Excel as a standalone
program actually is a qualifier for Excel upgrade if you look down further
in the URL I posted.

Not possible. Qualifying product for using an Upgrade version of Office XP are the
following only and Works is not a qualifying product in this case. So I have no idea
what you used to Upgrade as you wrote in your post

Office 97 Professional
Office 97 Standard
Office 97 Small Business Edition
Office 2000 Standard
Office 2000 Small Business
Office 2000 Professional
Office 2000 Premium
Office 2000 Developer

Peter, no use trying to talk to him. He has his mind made up and is correct
about EVERYTHING and belittles anyone trying to correct him. He changes his
posted name every so often to keep people from kill filing him. I guess
that I will be the next one on his list but really don't care. Once in a
while he does actually give good information but he is a professed pirate,
likes to tell people to go to crack sites to download "free" software, etc.
