how do i reinstall windows installer so it works properly?

when installing norton antivirus protection i keep gettin an error which is
as follows

error 1327. invalid drive: h:\

i then looked on the symantec website as it recommended and followed the
instructions which said that it was windows installer error. i then removed
windows installer and reinstalled it but it still hasnt worked and i still
have the same error . please help!
