how do I remove stencils from visio drawing?

I have created some visio documents. Every time I open them there are
Stencils on the left hand side. Would like docs to open without these
stencils.

Close the stencils then use File -> Save As insead of File -> Save
Next to the Save button is a small black mark, click that and select Save workspace.
