Well, the paragraph mark looks like ¶. There's a button on the toolbar with
that same symbol on it. Click it. Did that make the paragraph marks go away?
If not, there's one other wrinkle... Since you didn't mention seeing little
dots where there should be spaces, it might be a different item. Open the
Tools > Options dialog and look at the group of options in the middle ("Tab
characters", "Spaces", "Paragraph marks", etc.). Uncheck any of the boxes
there that have check marks. The ¶ button just checks and unchecks the "All"
box, but any of the others that are checked stay that way until you clear
them.
