how do I remove this virus?

my excel files from different workbooks are open and I usually copy and paste data from one to
another and from worksheets on the internet. Occassionally, a dot will appear on one cell while I am working
and the dot will replicate itself. When I press escape, the dot transfers to another cell and increases its spee
of replication. Left alone, this will obviously fill the entire sheet and corrupt all files as it spreads from sheet to
sheet. There were occassions when i noticed the same dots replicating themselves on microsoft outlook

I'd appreciate help from anyone with info on how to remove this problem? Thank you.

Does this happen all the time or just when certain workbooks are open?

If it's all the time, then it could be caused by some workbook/addin that starts
up when ever excel starts.

You can use some techniques that Chip Pearson shares on his web site:
http://www.cpearson.com/excel/StartupErrors.htm

Essentially, you're going to move stuff out of your XLStart folder and uncheck
everything under Tools|Addins. (But keep track!)

Then one by one, you'll add one back and restart excel to see if that caused the
problem.

But if it only happens with one a certain workbook (or it only happens when a
certain workbook is open), I'd find the developer of that workbook and ask what
the heck is he/she doing?

If you developed it yourself, any chance you put a macro in that you didn't
want?
