How do I restore Outlook settings, contacts & e-mail?

Stranded in Seattle

I was using Excel and was required to do my first "Detect and Repair".
Unwittingly and unknowingly all my Outlook contacts and e-mails were replaced
by an entirely new Outlook as well. What are the precise procedures I must
follow to fully and completely restore my original Outlook?

All help VERY much appreciated.
