pps files, when clicking on open, used to go right into the slide show...now
I have to save every file first b4 viewing, then go back and delete if not
saving it...feels like being back on aol...tried reconfiguring office-no
change...I run xp office 2003 small business sp2

Steve...I just read the entire PPTools link and b4 I attempt following their
guidelines, I have a rookie question...wouldn't it be just a whole easier to
reinstall office 2003 since the "out of the box" settings gave me all the
functionality I am now missing?

D.B.,
NO - don't re-install PPT. It won't fix the things that are listed in that
FAQ entry. That's why the entry was create - it is the things that we MVPS
collectively do on the machines we use (and have others do) to make our
machines run best.

In addition, the particular problem you are seeing is not necessarily
controlled by a PPT or Office setting. It is controlled by your operating
system (Windows XP in your case). The FAQ entry will tell you how to verify
that things are showing the way you need them to so that you can tell if you
have double extensions on your files.

Make sense?
