how do i retreive a document version that i failed to save?

I just modified a document; when prompted to save document, I accidentally
said no. HELP!

If you tell Word you don't want to keep your changes, it doesn't keep them.
Most folk would be deeply upset if it did otherwise. I'm afraid you'll have
to redo your changes, there is nothing you can retrieve.

If you then closed the document and Word, then your edits are no longer. The
version just does not exist if it wasn't saved at any stage.
