How do I save a database as a stand alone version

I have built a simple database (in Access 2000) that catalogues Video's,
DVD's Music etc and I want to pass it over to somebody who does not have
Microsoft Access on their machine. I am aware that there are internet
solutions that provide this type of database but this person has a stand
alone machine. I seem to remember that stand alone versions of databases
could be passed freely by saving them as a version 2.0. is this still
possible and if so how do I do it

No it is not. You would have to purchase the developer's product for your
version of Office which would allow you to distribute a "run-only" instance of
Access that can be installed on PCs that do not have the licensed product. This
would not be practical unless you needed to distribute to at least several such
PCs. Certainly for just one such PC it would be cheaper (and a lot easier) to
just purchase a licensed version of Access.
