I'm trying to save a gif image in an e-mail but the save as menu only allows
one choice and that's as a Bitmap. Is they a way to change this to allow more
choices. ie gif's jpegs etc?

The "save as..." context menu will only allow you to save in the format the
image was sent. To change the native format: save it, then open it in an
image editor, then save as the format you like. E-mail clients are not image
editors.
Hope this helps,

Thanks for the information. The problem with saving a gif that has animation
once you 'save as' with a Bitmap it loses the motion when you try and resave
it later. Is there a way to cahnge the 'save as' options in Outlook. I have
it set up using MS Word as my e-mail editor

OK, I've figured out a work-around for this issue. (Someone may have figured
it out before me, but I did this on my own.) I could not find a fix *within*
Outlook.

When you preview or open an e-mail with a GIF, click:
File>Save As>HTML. (The entire e-mail, not just the picture, at this
point.) Don't forget to choose the location and create a name.

Now go to that location and you'll find the HTML document you just saved.
Open it, probably in Internet Explorer; the GIF(s) should be running; and you
can right-click on it to "Save As" GIF. One of the many topics I read on
this, stated that a full Internet Explorer cache, limits the save-as format
choices within IE.

So, I hope this helps. Post again if you have any more questions,

Very clever. I tried your method and was able to save
a gif I really wanted to include in a new e-mail.
Thanks for your help.
