I have word documents with photos pasted into them, how do I extract the
photo from the word document and save it as a jpg in its own right?

Hi Jodie,

One way is to save the document as a web page. That will output the graphics
to separate files. When you choose File|Save as web page, you should see a
'Tools' button. If you click on that, you get some options for pictures,
which you can use to manage the output file's resolution.

Another way is to copy the image and paste it into a graphics program (even
MS Paint will do).

Yet another way, on many systems, is to copy and paste the image onto the
desktop. Then, at the Windows prompt, move it to the required folder.

With either of the last two, making sure the image is already full-size in
Word will help with the output's resolution.

Cheers
