How do I scan a document and save it to MS Word?

You would need a Scanner, and an Optical Character Recognition software,
and then you could save the resultant text for later use.

Or if you have Office 2003 you can look up Scan Document in Help.

You do have a scanner and MS Office with Document Scanning? Then
click on MS Office Document Scanner. This will perform OCR on
the result and can produce a Word document. How good or bad this
will be depends on the document but there are also a lot of
other programs that will scan and do OCR eg., Omnipage Pro.
